BOWLING GREEN, Ohio-Neil Diemer, a 54-year-old man from Ottawa, was sentenced to 180 days in jail and 5 years probation for attempting to engage in sexual conduct with someone he believed to be a 12-year-old, but who was actually an undercover officer. The incident occurred online in September 2023. Diemer pleaded guilty to importuning, disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, and possessing criminal tools. He was also initially charged with attempted rape, but this charge was dismissed. As part of his sentence, Diemer will be registered as a tier I sex offender for 15 years, is prohibited from using internet-capable electronic devices, and cannot have unsupervised contact with minors. His pickup truck, valued between $50,000 and $60,000, will be forfeited.
