‘Trying to be a Good Samaritan’: Teen Hit by Elyria Police Car

ELYRIA, Ohio-A 15-year-old boy was struck by an Elyria Police cruiser while responding to a car accident on Friday at the intersection of West Avenue and 11th Street. The police were called to a crash involving a stolen Honda and a Ford Expedition, and the occupants of the Honda fled the scene. As officers searched for the suspects, the teenager, who was not involved in the accident, ran across the road and was hit by a police car that did not have its siren activated. He was taken to University Hospitals – Elyria Medical Center and is currently recovering. The officer involved was placed on administrative leave, and the police department is investigating the incident. The driver responsible for the initial crash has not yet been located.
