More Teens Struggling with Added Pressures, Burnout, Study Shows

< 1 min read

DAYTON, Ohio-A recent study reveals that over a quarter of U.S. teens are experiencing burnout from pressures related to school, home, and social media. Sara Konrath, an associate professor at Indiana University, found that 81% of surveyed teens feel significant pressure regarding achievement, appearance, and future plans. The study, conducted with Common Sense Media and Harvard’s Center for Digital Thriving, involved over 1,500 teens. While 80% of teens feel pressured by social media to conform, many (39-53%) also use it as a way to relieve stress, particularly through online gaming. Konrath emphasizes the importance of guiding teens toward positive screen time experiences.
