Lima Teen Waives Speedy Trial Rights

LIMA, Ohio-A Lima teen, Cardarius Burns, waived his right to a speedy trial in his case involving charges of aggravated robbery, felonious assault, grand theft, and having weapons under disability. His jury trial, originally set for December 17, has been postponed, with a new scheduling conference set for January 13. The charges relate to a February 13 incident that led to the death of 14-year-old Lauralye Sterling. Malik Dennis is accused of firing the shot that killed Sterling while she was inside a home on Greenlawn Avenue. During a municipal court hearing for Dennis, it was revealed that he had been robbed shortly before the shooting by two juveniles who were also present at the residence, with Burns, 18, being one of them.
