New Philadelphia School District closed all district playgrounds Friday afternoon after learning the mulch contains pieces of metal. According to a release from the school district, the mulch recently spread at the district playgrounds, the Quaker Dome, and landscaping beds all contains the metal. “In the interest of keeping our students, staff, and community safe, all district playgrounds will be closed until this issue is resolved,” the release said. “We are working to resolve this issue quickly and will share updates as soon as playgrounds are safe to reopen.”
