April 3rd, 2024-WAVERLY, Ohio-George Wagner IV, 31, was convicted on all 22 counts he faced, including eight counts of aggravated murder, in the 2016 killings of seven adults and a teenager from the Rhoden family in Pike County, Ohio. The verdict was reached after jurors considered testimony from witnesses, including Wagner’s brother and mother, who had previously pleaded guilty for their involvement.
The shootings initially sparked speculation about drug cartel involvement but were later revealed to stem from a custody dispute over Wagner’s niece. Despite Wagner’s denial of knowledge or participation in the killings, prosecutors argued that he was complicit and should be held accountable. While Wagner was not accused of pulling the trigger, prosecutors contended that he was involved in the planning and execution of the murders, leading to his conviction.
