MASON, Ohio– Mason City Schools and the Mason Education Association, representing over 600 Mason teachers, have not held negotiations since concluding their 14th bargaining session on May 31.
The union is seeking a base salary increase of 3.75 percent for the 2024-2025 school year, followed by a 3.5 percent yearly increase through the 2025-2027 school year. Primary goals outlined by the union include hiring and retaining high-quality teachers, managing workloads, planning instruction based on student needs, and investing in professional development.
Mason teacher salaries have increased by 20 percent over the past eight years, surpassing increases in other nearby districts.
While both parties express eagerness to reach a deal, there are no new mediation sessions scheduled at present.
