Washington Local Schools Welcomes its 1st Boys & Girls Club

< 1 min read

TOLEDO, Ohio-When Jim Ravas became president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Toledo in 2020, he prioritized expanding the nonprofit to Washington Local Schools, the second-largest school district in Lucas County. He collaborated with former Superintendent Kadee Anstadt, who had long sought a club within the school system but faced challenges in securing funding and space. After four years of effort, they celebrated the opening of a new Boys & Girls Club location at Hiawatha Elementary School. The club will provide students aged 7 to 12 with homework help, team-building activities, conflict resolution exercises, and access to meals through Connecting Kids to Meals. This new location is the ninth in Toledo and highlights the importance of having clubs throughout various neighborhoods to support all children in the community, as noted by Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz.
