GROVE CITY, Ohio-The family of a 5-year-old girl is suing the South-Western City School District, the school nurse, and principal Jenniffer Kauffeld over an alleged improper and invasive medical examination conducted on the child in November 2023. The lawsuit includes eight counts, such as violations of due process, bodily integrity, and privacy, as well as claims of assault, emotional distress, and failure to report suspected child abuse. The family contends that the nurse performed the exam without consent, despite the family providing prior medical information. The family also claims the incident caused PTSD for the child, and financial and emotional hardship for the family, including the need to switch schools due to the teacher’s support of Kauffeld.
