Shooter in Columbus Drug Deal That Left Two Teens Dead Gets 15 Years in Prison

April 16th, 2024-COLUMBUS, Ohio-Cayon Drake, 19, pleaded guilty to two counts of involuntary manslaughter for the April 2023 shooting deaths of 16-year-old Jeremy Heglar and 19-year-old Antonie Moss Jr. Drake was sentenced to serve at least 15 years and no more than 18 years in prison.

Prosecutors agreed not to oppose early release after nine years served. The incident occurred during a drug deal on the city’s East Side, where Drake and Moss shot Heglar. Heglar returned fire, fatally wounding Moss and injuring Drake. Charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, discharging a firearm over a roadway, and improper handling of a firearm were dismissed as part of the plea deal.
