Academic Decathlon Takes Home 12th Consecutive National Championship

OAKWOOD, Ohio-The Oakwood High School Academic Decathlon team secured its 12th Division III National Championship at the recent United States Academic Decathlon National Competition in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With over 600 students participating nationwide, Oakwood’s nine-member team excelled, earning a total of 65 individual medals across various subjects.

Notably, they dominated in overall scores across GPA divisions, with eight out of nine individual awards. Rohan Haack led the team, achieving 1st place overall in the Honors division, closely followed by Joseph Hong and Anna Weaver. Alex Devgan topped the Scholastic division, with Brian Fischer and Grace Stafford also performing impressively. Ian Brooks claimed 1st place overall in the Varsity division, while Daniel Wang secured 2nd place. Alex Devgan was further recognized as the Most Valuable Team Member. Additionally, twelve high-scoring individuals from Oakwood received invitations to the National Competition, collectively earning 13 medals. The team expressed gratitude to their sponsors and recognized the contributions of their coaches and assistants.
